When I first met with Akina, the bride, I could immediately tell her personality. She’s witty, and she has that calm and well-composed demeanour with a straight-forward logic (If I’m wrong, it’s because I judge the book by its cover). She lives along with minimalistic philosophy, and chooses quality over quantity. She loves good look, but it should serve a purpose. And she choose no better place than Khayangan Estate. Her inspiration of her wedding started from looking at the Villa and seeing the majestic sea over the cliff at the Estate. From then on, she wanted her wedding like a celebration and gathering more than a glitzy reception.
The day started with Akad Nikah against the ocean as the backdrop and when you got a view that magical, you don’t put lots of enhancement to it. Various potted greeneries with mix material of pots and rattan pot covers were good enough without stealing the show. Guests then were escorted to lower lawn where they would be checking out their seating and also got the chance to mix and mingle with the others.
Let’s talk about the evening reception that was so beautifully done. We were bringing a little country to the space. Walnut-hued timber tent made a sophisticated complement to the organic contemporary look. The flowers were the kind of colours and varieties that grow in your backyard, like Vanda and Oncidium Orchid, Dendrobium orchid and garden roses. There was no specific theme colour, but I guess these beauties pop up agains the wooden fixtures. Also, because it was an Indonesian cuisine family-style food serving, we made sure that there were plenty of room for yummy condiments, large platter and hands grabbing the meals.
Talking about food, let’s go to a little detour nothing about flowers, the catering company that she picked to serve was Als Catering , a down-to-earth family owned business that had built its reputation serving Indonesian-style meals. I took a quick look at the menu served for dinner and my…. it was the kind of food we ate back in the days, timeless, traditional, and delicious which took hours to prepare and which most families these days don’t have the time.
It may look simple, but sometimes the simplicity takes more effort , especially when today is the time where the more is the merrier. Thanks for vendors that work alongside with us and creating this unforgettable day (and night) to remember.
