Traditional Balinese Wedding in a Modern Setting
In a normal traditional Balinese wedding, it takes a village or a family to decorate. From setting up the house with teetering roof (traditional roof), cooking, coconut leaves weaving to organizing the party itself. Natasha’s is half Indonesian, half Hongkong with a modern US upbringing.
So her wedding is also a time for reunion and inviting close friends and Marvin’s family to the place she has a strong roots of.
Dragons are a mythical creature in Chinese culture, and also coincidentally Marvin and Natasha were born in the year of dragon. Two big dragon ornaments were put at the start of the aisle where alot of guests were mesmerized and can’t stop taking pictures. So what’s next. there?
At first we started with lining the aisle with penjors, and the gebogan (fruits) are the next big thing adorning the seating chart. and Finally the fans made of weaved coconut leaves to make a giant crown.
Normally in the work’s back end we create a flower formula where we calculate the amount of flowers we need. Therefore each centerpiece has an almost-uniform look. However, we didn’t do it this time round, for a purpose. We purposely want to create. a same theme but with a different look.
There is no uniformity but there is a common ground. You will see that each piece has a different number of blooms and flower variety that fills the table.
